Who are your Blue Ridge Studio hosts?
Blue Ridge Studios is owned and operated by local couple Laura and Derek who first moved to Te Anau in early 2023 after searching for a change in pace when their three older daughters had left home.
Along with Devon and their most recent arrival Kassidy, Laura & Derek ventured into a big challenge when purchasing the property, with it needing some tender loving care to bring it up to a more appropriate standard.
With Derek being a local police officer in Te Anau, Laura is generally the host you will meet upon arrival and takes care of the day to day running of the three units on site. You might find Derek looking after the beautiful gardens that surround the B&B and is always keen for a chat if desired.
Where are Blue Ridge Studios?
Located at 15 Melland Place, the studios are a 5-min walk from the heart of Te Anau township where you will find the main street and various Te Anau food options.
Blue Ridge Studios themselves are located down a driveway in a rear property which is quiet and private. There is free & safe car parking next to the studios. On arrival, you are likely to be met by your hosts Laura or Derek to show you to your studio and answer any questions.

Where do I stay on the property?
While Blue Ridge Studios is a Bed and Breakfast, the three accommodation studios are located seperate to the hosts main home and at no point do you need to be in their home - i.e. if you select to have breakfast, it is delivered to your studio. Each studio is seperate, one entrance and private.

Who is Blue Ridge Studios BEST suited to?
If you are travelling as a couple and looking for something a bit unique, away from other surround hotels, motels or the hustle bustle of the main streets of Te Anau where most accommodations are, then this is the perfect choice for you. We suggest this is a stay for people with the budget of $250 - $350 per night and you will be rewarded with great friendly service from Derek & Laura who go the extra mile to ensure your are comfortable.
We also suggest this is a good place for those looking to stay more than one night with everything you need to help with your time there such as the kitchenettes. Derek & Laura can also help with planning or booking local attractions.
Who is Blue Ridge Studios NOT suited to?
Those travelling on more of a budget and looking for a cheap stay. That's not to say that Blue Ridge is expensive, they actually sit middle of the pack for prices of accommodation options in Te Anau and are quite fair for a boutique & modern Bed & Breakfast. We also wouldn't suggest Blue Ridge for families as the King Bed in each studio is the only bed so this is a place best suited to couples.
Our Summary
We have found Blue Ridge Studios to be very friendly with the local touch coming from Derek & Laura both on arrival, but also in the studios themselves with lovely artwork/photos and surrounded by native trees & well kept gardens.
The studios are modern with a luxury theme that is not over dominating and at a very fair price for Te Anau. You will struggle to find equal or better quality for the same or better price.
We like the separation from the main home, giving both the guest and host family privacy that is enjoyed more these days with Bed & Breakfasts. The breakfast itself is said to be very, very good with some of our Luxe Tour guests commenting on just how good it was when we picked them up from Blue Ridge one day.
We highly recommend considering Blue Ridge Studios for your visit and stay in the beautiful Te Anau. We have high confidence you won't be disappointed at all.
